Food Porn Flow

Stacked Burger Flow Food Porn – by Brooke Mason [Feb 2016]

You know you want it! Your favorite junk foods making sweet love together. There is just one problem. Just like a passionate love affair you have to get it while it’s hot because these items are frequently temporary taste testers like KFC’s now legendary Double Down that was bacon and cheese sandwiched between two chicken fillets. Jack in the Box is currently leading the charge in junk food decadence thanks to their Munchie Meals that can only be purchased after 9 p.m. I have made it my personal mission to try every single one of these meals.

While some are hit and miss, others are just plain brilliant! I won’t even say how many calories we’re counting here. Lets just say you’re one and done! Here are some of my favorite junk food mashups:

Slamburger: When it comes to breakfast burgers, I am a connoisseur. For some reason there is nothing more indulgent than topping a burger with an egg. There is not much better than this option from Dennys that includes crispy hash browns, an egg cooked to order and two bacon strips on top of a hamburger covered in pepper jack cheese sauce.

The JunkYard Dog: This Wienerschnitzel delight is basically a grilled all beef or polish hot dog topped with french fries, chili sauce, American cheese, mustard and grilled onions. You also have the option of a sesame seed or pretzel bun. It wasn’t as good as I dreamed it would be but if you want to be bad I don’t think you can do much worse.

Stacked Grilled Cheese Burger: This is so nice I ate it twice! To me there is nothing closer to perfection than a grilled cheese sandwich stacked on top of a hamburger. Out of all of the Jack in the Box Munchie Meals this is my absolute favorite. To quote their web site: “When you see a sourdough grilled cheese standing on the shoulders of a cheeseburger, your jaw will drop. And then pick itself up. Then drop again. Because yeah, you’re already chewing.” I could not have said it better.

Epic Cali Steak & Guac Burrito: Frankly I find the loaded french fry options at most fast food chains to be underwhelming, overpriced and messy. In case you aren’t familiar with California Baja burritos or California fries, they are essentially everything you love about nachos: authentic Mexican meats like carnitas, pastor, and carne asada, with beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream on top of crinkle cut fries. And what can be more genius than taking that and wrapping it up in a tortilla? This Del Taco offering is a filled with carne asada steak, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and crinkle cut french fries. Only word of warning is it’s a tad on the salty side coming in at 1970 mg of sodium so make sure to get some soda if you’re up to this challenge!

Churro S’mores: Applebee’s has a great twist on chocolate fondue that pairs churros and s’mores together. You get to dip tiny churro twists in a hot chocolate dip topped with baby toasted marshmallows for only $4.00. I was actually a beta tester for these goodies and gave them my vote of approval so you have me among others to thank for this currently appearing on their menu.
